What it is

Microneedling is controlled injury. By design.

Your skin's natural response to micro-injury is to produce new collagen. Microneedling exploits that response — fine sterile needles create controlled micro-channels at precise depths, and the healing response remodels the skin over weeks. RF microneedling (Morpheus8 and similar platforms) adds radiofrequency energy delivered through the needles, which extends remodeling deeper into the dermis and tightens tissue from inside.

What this is good for: acne scarring, fine lines, enlarged pores, skin texture, mild laxity, stretch marks. What it's not good for: deep wrinkles that need filler, active acne, or significant skin laxity that needs surgical intervention.

Results aren't instant. The collagen response builds over 4–12 weeks per session, and most patients need three sessions spaced a month apart to see meaningful change. Anyone promising one-session results is overselling.

Your visit

How a microneedling visit actually flows.

Four steps. The numbing time is most of the visit; the actual treatment is fast.

— 01

Skin prep

Cleanse, photograph for progress tracking, assess current skin condition. We'll select standard or RF microneedling depending on your goals and skin.

~10 min
— 02

Topical numbing

Strong topical numbing cream for 30–45 minutes. RF microneedling requires more numbing than standard. Patients usually scroll or read during this part.

30–45 min
— 03

Treatment pass

Sterile needle cartridge at the depth selected for your concern. RF version delivers controlled radiofrequency at depth. Most patients describe sensation as pressure with occasional sharp spots.

20–30 min
— 04

Post-care protocol

Hyaluronic acid serum, no makeup for 24 hours, gentle cleanser only for 48 hours, sunscreen mandatory for 2 weeks. Expect redness (1–3 days), possible minor bruising, and gradual results over 4–12 weeks.

Recovery: 1–3 days
Pricing

Series pricing. Standard or RF.

Microneedling produces results over a series. We price series of three; single sessions are available but rarely recommended.

Series of 3 (most common)
$750–$2,400
Three-session series · Face standard
Most popular: RF microneedling face (series of 3)
$1,800 for the series. Larger areas (neck, décolletage, body) priced separately. Maintenance sessions $300–$800 after the initial series.
Standard microneedling, face (series of 3)$750
Standard microneedling + serum, face (series of 3)$950
RF microneedling, face (series of 3)$1,800
RF microneedling, face + neck (series of 3)$2,400
Body RF microneedling (per area, series of 3)$1,500–$3,000

Standard vs. RF — which do you need? Standard microneedling is fine for fine lines, texture, and mild concerns. RF microneedling is meaningfully more effective for acne scarring, skin laxity, and deeper remodeling — but it costs more and requires more downtime. We help you choose at consultation. Don't pay RF prices for standard treatment.
Is it right for you?

Microneedling fits some skin, not others.

Strong candidates see real results. Wrong candidates waste money.

A good fit

You're a strong candidate if…

  • You have acne scarring, fine lines, or texture concerns
  • You're 25+ with no active acne breakouts
  • You're willing to commit to a series of 3 (and possibly maintenance)
  • You can tolerate 1–3 days of visible redness post-treatment
  • You're realistic about gradual results over weeks
× Not a fit

Microneedling isn't appropriate if…

  • You have active acne or active skin infections
  • You're prone to keloid or hypertrophic scarring
  • You're on Accutane currently or within 6 months
  • You're pregnant
  • You have deep wrinkles or significant skin laxity — those need filler or different procedures
  • You want immediate results — this is a slow-burn treatment
★★★★★

"Three RF microneedling sessions on my acne scars. I'd had laser before that did nothing. After the second session I was already seeing real texture improvement. After the third, my partner asked what I'd changed. Worth every dollar."

Questions

Microneedling, without exaggeration.

These are the questions we get most. Bring anything else to your consultation.

How is RF microneedling different from regular microneedling? +
Standard microneedling creates micro-channels in the skin to trigger a collagen response. RF microneedling adds radiofrequency energy delivered through the needles at depth, which extends the remodeling further into the dermis and provides tissue tightening. RF is meaningfully more effective for acne scarring, skin laxity, and deeper remodeling. Standard is sufficient for fine lines and texture.
Does microneedling hurt? +
With strong topical numbing (30–45 minutes), most patients describe the sensation as pressure with occasional sharp spots. RF microneedling is more intense than standard. The treatment portion is fast — usually 20–30 minutes.
How much does microneedling cost in the Bronx? +
Standard microneedling for the face starts at $750 for a series of three sessions. RF microneedling (Morpheus8-class) starts at $1,800 for a series of three. Larger areas and body treatments are priced separately. We provide written quotes at consultation.
How long does the redness last? +
Standard microneedling: 12–48 hours of redness, mild swelling possible. RF microneedling: 2–3 days of more pronounced redness, possible minor bruising or pinpoint bleeding. Some patients are comfortable returning to work the next day; others prefer to schedule on a Friday.
When will I see results? +
Collagen remodeling builds over 4–12 weeks per session. Most patients notice improvement after the second session and significant change 8–12 weeks after the third. Final results are visible 3–6 months after the series completes.
Is microneedling safe for darker skin? +
Generally yes. Microneedling doesn't target melanin like laser does, which makes it safer across skin types. Some risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation exists, particularly with RF microneedling — we screen for this at consultation and adjust protocols accordingly.
Can I do microneedling at home with a derma roller? +
No — at least not at meaningful depth. Home rollers max out at depths that don't reach the dermis where remodeling happens. They can be useful for product penetration and very superficial benefit, but they don't replicate medical microneedling and they don't deliver RF energy.
How often can I get microneedling? +
Sessions should be spaced at least 4 weeks apart (6 weeks for RF). After the initial series of three, maintenance sessions are typically 6–12 months apart depending on goals.
